November 2025
November 6, 2025 Letter of Concern
Summary of Notice: The commission issued a Letter of Concern outlining operational and organizational issues that required corrective action. The notice requested documentation and updates from the school regarding staffing stability, governance oversight, and instructional program delivery.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- The board of directors' chair and vice chair completed a site visit and full investigation (October 30 – November 3, 2025)
- The board of directors reached out to the family as part of the investigation
- The board of directors managed the updates and implementation of the school's safety protocols, policies, and procedures for elopement by the Executive Director
- The board of directors submitted all investigative and incident reports with safety protocol implementation updates to the commission (November 3, 2025)
- Staff were trained on new protocols, implemented safety procedures, and supervision requirements
- The Executive Director completed the following with board approval:
- Provided documentation addressing concerns about school operations and staffing capacity
- Provided information regarding governance oversight and leadership structure
- Demonstrated the school's ability to maintain safe supervision of students
- Provided updates regarding instructional program delivery and operational stability
Current Status: The board of directors closed the incident after full compliance and communication with the Executive Director of the commission. The commission stated they would still have to issue a letter of concern and complete their own investigation regardless of the efforts of the board. The board cooperated with the commission's efforts.

November 17, 2025 - Breach of Contract & Probation Letter
Summary of Notice: The Commission issued a Breach of Contract notice placing the school on probation and outlining corrective actions required to address operational, staffing, and compliance concerns. The notice directed the school to complete a special education compliance review, submit a staffing and instructional support plan, and demonstrate improved operational oversight.
Actions Taken by SLVA: On November 24, 2025, the following was provided to the commission staff:

- Board Governance Audit providing data proof that the board has complied since the inception of the school with its written bylaws

- 30 Day Board Governance Turnaround plan and implementation
- Board Governance training with the Missouri Public Charter School Association consultants

Current Status: The school requested review of all items on or around November 24, 2025, and was told by the commission staff at a board meeting that they lack the capacity to review all submissions that week.

November 25, 2025 - School Status Letter & Security Assessment Report
Summary of Notice: The Commission issued a notice regarding the school's operational status and security concerns, including directives related to school operations and student safety. The notice required additional review and oversight of school conditions prior to continued in-person operations.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- The school implemented all required safety and security measures by midnight 11/23/2025 with review from three different St. Louis police departments, a St. Louis City Juvenile Justice Detective, a Fire Marshall, a software and security company, and a construction company
- Complied with the distribution of all notices and communication requirements to families and staff about the in-person closure by the afternoon of 11/26/2025
- The school cooperated with multiple full-day investigations led by the commission and consultants after 11/24/2025
Current Status: The school maintains that the building, school, and staff were and are committed to school safety and security. We implemented all requirements before the site visit, audit, investigation, and in-person school closure occurred.

December 2025
December 2, 2025 - Meeting Conditions to Reopen School
Summary of NoticeThe Commission issued a notice outlining minimum conditions that the school must meet before resuming in-person instruction. These conditions included completion of compliance reviews, verification of instructional supervision, and documentation demonstrating adequate staffing and operational stability.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- The school cooperated with the SPED Audit on December 9, 2025. No audit or corrective actions were received by the school to implement
- Staffing roster, background check proof, certification proof, and classroom assignments were provided to the commission via legal counsel cooperation
- Several hundred tasks and items requested were submitted to the commission upon request
- The school cooperated with continued site visits and investigations while requesting that the commission staff and consultants provide appropriate scope, required notice, and not violate their own governing documents during visits
Current Status: The school remains committed to the services and education provided to all students during their time with us. We ensure that staff hired and retained know that their personnel files are kept confidential and only shared with authorized personnel. The school remains compliant with its contract with the commission, which states that we operate the school in full independence in the best interest of our families under the supervision of the sponsor. The school spent hundreds of hours meeting the daily compliance requests of the commission regarding this notice.

December 9, 2025 - Letter on Assessment to Reopen (Corrected)
Summary of Notice: The Commission issued a follow-up communication clarifying its assessment of the school's progress toward meeting reopening conditions. The notice addressed compliance items and identified areas requiring additional documentation or verification before full approval of operations.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- The school met with the finance vendor EdOps on multiple occasions to produce the edited documents required by the commission
- After the finance vendor EdOps contacted the commission staff, the date for the budget was changed to the end of the month instead of the originally provided date. Therefore, a new notice was issued to reflect this change only
- Several hundred tasks and items requested were submitted to the commission upon request
- The school cooperated with continued site visits and investigations while requesting that the commission staff and consultants provide appropriate scope, required notice, and not violate their own governing documents during visits
Current Status:The school continued to facilitate the submission of required compliance items, tickets, documents, etc. daily at an increased daily rate.

December 12, 2025 - Approval to Reopen
Summary of Notice: The Commission confirmed that the school had met the required conditions to resume in-person instruction. The notice acknowledged corrective actions taken by the school and allowed operations to proceed under continued monitoring.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- There were no additional actions to take based on this notice
- The school reopened to in-person instruction and celebrated with the welcoming of 100 of our students and all staff returning the week of December 15, 2025
- School operations restarted with huddles conducted by the Executive Director to provide transparent updates on the status of the school
- The school facilitated more site visits and investigations by the commission while requesting that the commission staff and consultants provide appropriate scope, required notice, and not violate their own governing documents during visits
Current Status: The school restarted its operations and proceeded with both necessary and mandatory turnaround procedures required to address schoolwide system needs.

January 2026
January 16, 2026 - Site Visit Letter
Summary of Notice: The Commission issued a follow-up communication requesting documentation and updates related to financial management and operational stability. The notice continued the probation monitoring process and requested verification of corrective actions.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- The school requested that the commission or its consultant, hired to conduct the instructional plan review, provide an updated and accurate scope of work, given that she communicated that she was told to facilitate an investigation, not an instructional plan review
- The school requested the updated notice and scope of work via Zoom meeting with the consultant, via telephone, and via email to all parties involved, including the commission staff
- The school submitted the following board-approved Sunshine Law requests:

- The Missouri Public Charter School Association
- The Opportunity Trust
- The school continued to complete compliance tickets, documentation, and requirements, even with some dating back to 2024–2025, at no fault of the school staff
Current Status: The school continued operations that ensured both staff and students were safe, secure, and performing. The school reviewed all Sunshine Law requests as they were received. Admin notified families and staff of progress made with the commission's requests.

February 2026
February 19, 2026 - Status Letter
Summary of Notice: The Commission issued a status update summarizing its assessment of the school's progress under probation and ongoing monitoring requirements. The notice reiterated expectations for continued compliance and referenced potential future actions depending on the school's progress.
Actions Taken by SLVA
- The school submitted all financials as required
- The school received confirmation that the instructional plan review and continuation of the SPED Audit are separate from the annual site visit and require separate notice. However, the commission officially decided that these reviews will be done during the regular annual site visit in April instead of separately
- The school provided the commission with reminders of the request the commission staff made to ShowMeKC Kids to take the school off the enrollment app in November 2025. Therefore, the request for compliance with a Spring 2026 lottery cannot occur
- Admin signed and submitted the building and grade level expansion DESE submission the same day it was provided via email to authorize 4th grade in 2026–2027
- The school filed a motion for a preliminary injunction:
- February 2 — Preliminary Injunction court hearing
- February 19 — Virtual Deposition of Robynn Wahby
- March 4 — Preliminary Injunction court hearing continuance
Current Status: During this time, the school is maintaining instructional quality standards under the conditions forced upon it in recent months. In spite of the circumstances, the school's staff and administration continue to navigate tumultuous times while celebrating resilience daily with our families.
